Titus X at 217 E 42nd
Producers Joe DeFeo and Braden Chapman present the New York premier of Titus X, written by Shawn Northrip, directed by Peter Sanfilippo.

Northrip, who received his M.F.A. in Musical Theatre Writing from Tisch, decided to set a Shakespeare play to the music from the DC underground. Titus seemed the perfect choice because it contained the perfect balance of politics and unapologetic violence. This tragic-comedy, which is as much concert as it is theatrical show, follows the plot of Shakespeare's original revenge play, while reveling in its own absurdity.

Titus X has been developed at the Kennedy Center 2002 Page to Stage Festival, at Catholic University, at the 23rd Annual Washington New Play Festival, and performed in production at Source Theatre in Washington, DC.

Cast:
Amanda Bond, Bat Parnas, Benjamin Pryor, Joseph Pindelski, Peter Schuyler, T-Boy

Tickets: $22
Late showings: $15, Saturdays only

Housewarming Party at The Tank Annex - 208 W.37th
Thanks to a generous donation of space from Chashama, The Tank is proud to announce the launch of The Tank Annex. For six weeks in November and December, The Tank staff will be operating an additional storefront space in midtown while continuing its programming on 42nd street. The Tank Annex will act as a temporary home for emerging artists and performers to create exciting, site-specific and interactive events, a space to spread out and generate cutting edge work. For more information on scheduling, visit www.thetanknyc.org/annex.

To inaugurate this new space, we’re throwing the TANK ANNEX HOUSEWARMING PARTY this Sunday! There will be music and juggling and cake and ways for you to help us settle in (like painting the walls and building with legos). If you like to do things in front of other people, or near other people, this is your chance. Recite a poem, take an exit poll, or teach someone how to dance.

SILENT AUCTION of chashama artists in residence and other artist's work.

Evening Program: cocktails, dinner, presentation, ambient performances: Julie Atlas Muz; Happy Hour; Eric Davis: the Red Bastard; Claire Barratt's Sculptural Movement Installation; choreographer Edisa Weeks, Javy Cabrera.

Our fall benefit will finance A.R.E.A. (Accessing Real Estate for the Arts), our major initiative to create temporary arts spaces in vacant real estate in New York City. This is a major financial campaign, which will allow chashama to acquire new temporary vacancies, rehabilitate our current spaces and provide additional resources for the artists of New York City. We have recently received a contribution of more than 90,000 square feet of space from the real estate community including, Jeffrey Gural of Newmark and Co., and Bruce Ratner of Forest City Ratner. Through this unique access to real estate, chashama enacted the A.R.E.A. Program. A.R.E.A. has transformed unused space into multi-arts complexes and opened galleries, theaters, and artist studios out of 12 different donated properties in the past 9 years. These temporary space donations have enabled us to provide free and highly subsidized space to more than 3,000 new, emerging and established artists.
