between 57th and 58th Streets on 12th Avenue

chashama (Anita Durst, Artistic Director) is proud to present open studios featuring the work of the visual artists-in-residence in our 57th Street Studios.

chashama's 57th Street location is a newly renovated artists' studios center located in the historic Artkraft-Strauss sign factory at 57th Street and 12th Avenue. The artists in residence at 57th Street were selected from a highly competitive group of applicants in 2006. Work will be available for viewing and sale.

 

chashama supports emerging and underrepresented artists by providing one of the most elusive commodities in New York City: space to create. chashama works with landlords and developers to identify underutilized real estate, which the owner is willing to donate on a short-term, temporary basis, preferring to see underutilized spaces put to good use, looked after and maintained while they are awaiting commercial tenants.
