REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS

 
chashama, Inc. is seeking a Harlem-based artist or group of artists to create murals on the pull-down gates at our two visual arts project studios at 159 W.119^th Street. There are a total of three corrugated metal gates: two facing Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Boulevard and one facing West 119^th Street. At least one of the gates should include the words "chashama" and "www.chashama.org". Artists who would like to be considered should submit the following:

• A detailed description of the planned murals, including information about the theme and sample text (if applicable);
• Color sketches of the planned mural; 
• Photographs of a representative sample of the artists' previous works, especially mural work;
• A bio and contact information for the artist or artists; and
• A list of materials required to complete the mural.

Applications must be received in our office (not postmarked) by 5:00pm on Monday, February 5, 2007. chashama does not return application materials. Applicants will be notified by February 15^th and painting will commence as soon as possible. The selected artist will receive a stipend of $300.00 and the materials will be paid for by chashama.
