chashama is pleased to announce our 2007 RFPs for:
10th annual OASIS festival at 217 East 42nd Street
Mon-Fri, July 16 - 27, 2007
&
2nd annual Site Specific Sundays in Riverside Park South
Sundays in July (July 8, 15, 22, and 29)
The OASIS festival features 2 hours of up to 20-minute performances during weekday lunch hours and during the evening rush hour in the display window of our storefront performance venue at 217 East 42nd Street. This summer, we will present the work of up to 40 dancers, choreographers and emerging companies.
Deadline: May 1st, 2007
Applications must arrive (not postmarked) at the chashama office by 5PM.
ABOUT 217 EAST 42ND STREET'S WINDOW STAGE
Stage Dimensions:
16' 6" deep, x 15' 6" wide (including a 2' 6" wing);
x 30" height (raised platforms on 2'x 4's);
22' ceiling;
additional 1400 square feet with 8' ceilings
Window Dimensions:
13' 1" x 7' 9.5"
NOTE: Because performances take place in the window, this event plays simultaneously to the street and indoors.

Site Specific Sundays
chashama is also partnering with the management of Riverside Park to expand the festival to Sundays in July at an outdoor site-specific location, Red Shade Plaza.
This exciting new incarnation of chashama's OASIS festival will bring new and innovative performance to thousands of audience members where they might not otherwise expect it.
Timeline & Conditions
chashama is offering performance space at Red Shade Plaza, Riverside Park South for four (4) emerging dance companies/choreographers to present original works 20 – 60 minutes in length. Groups/artists will be assigned one (1) Sunday in July (July 8, 15, 22, and 29) with performances to take place at 3PM and 5PM.
Interested groups/artists may contact Risa Shoup via email at risa [at] chashama.org in order to arrange a visit to the park on Saturday, April 7 from 12PM – 3PM or Sunday, April 15 from 12PM – 3PM. These are the only dates available to see the park with a chashama staff member before you apply. No exceptions will be made. If neither of these times work for you, you may go at another time by yourself. chashama strongly urges you to visit the park before applying.
To better understand the site-specific venue, you may visit yourself at anytime:
Red Shade Plaza, Riverside Park South
Enter at 72nd Street and Riverside Blvd or 59th Street at the Hudson River
Located at the Hudson River at approximately 62nd Street.
The main performance area in this location has been developed with new seating areas and pier renovations.
