chashama Project Exhibition Studio Application, Fall/Winter 2007

A Little Information About the Project Exhibition Studio:
The Project Exhibition Studio program is a hybrid concept: part exhibition program, part visual artist's studio. It is designed to give artists space to create and space to exhibit. The current Project Studios are located at the Northeast corner of 119th street and Adam Clayton Powell Blvd. The spaces have floor to ceiling storefront windows, excellent light, hardwood floors and private closets and bathrooms. They are roughly 250 square feet (about 13' x 20').
We are looking for artists interested in creating site-specific instillations or performances that engage the community and take full advantage of these vacant storefronts.
The Project Studio term will be one month. There is a fully-refundable security deposit of $75.00, and artists will receive a $50.00 stipend at the completion of their term. Artists must hold a public exhibition of their work at the end of their term.
Timeline & Conditions:
*Artists will be granted space for one month residencies, RENT FREE; please stipulate if your proposed project requires a specific term of residency.
*Artists will be awarded a $50 stipend at the end of their residency.
*chashama will provide technical assistance in an advisory capacity ONLY; artists must be capable of installing, teching and de-installing their own projects!
*chashama will assist artists with creating and distributing a press release.
