The Artists & Writers Alliance Internationale Project

The Artists & Writers Alliance Internationale, a project dedicated to encouraging collaborative creative projects is currently accepting listings for its website from visual artists, writers of all genres, musicians, dancers, filmmakers and multi-disciplinary artists who are interested in connecting with other creative types to produce collaborative works of art. All are welcome to submit a free listing to the AWAI website. Thanks to the internet, artists and writers as well as others in all media can work on projects together while living on opposite sides of the world or around the corner from each other enabling cultures and ideas to blend while giving life to new artforms.

The Artists & Writers Alliance Internationale website will also post collaborations that have taken place between artists, writers and others who have connected as a result of their registering with AWAI, listings of AWAI events, performances and exhibits worldwide. AWAI is the clearinghouse that will bring artists, writers and others in the arts together from around the world; it is then up to the participants to contact each other directly for more detailed information for possible collaborative projects.

The Artists & Writers Alliance Internationale plans to sponsor events as well as workshops and seminars on the art of collaboration; dates and events to be announced in the near future.

Artists, writers and others in the arts who are interested in a free listing on the AWAI website should email the following information to: Artistswriters [at] aol.com with their name, email address, country that they live in, a brief but concise description of their work and the type of collaboration they may be interested in. Submissions for listings will be accepted on an on-going basis.

ARTFORUM AD PROJECT
Call for participation

artforum.jeffreythompson.org

HOW IT WORKS
The ARTFORUM AD PROJECT, a conceptual artwork by artist Jeff Thompson, allows for 4,200 artists to have their work seen in Artforum magazine.

Each participant, paying $1.50 USD and sending their image electronically, will then have their piece, along with all the other participating artists, in a full-page advertisement. Of course, due to the number of artists needed to raise the money for this venture, the images themselves will be quite small... about 3/16" x 3/16". Artists make a secure payment of $1.50 using PayPal and send an image of their work. The image is shrunk to the 3/16". When $4,200 is raised, the ad is sent to Artforum to be published.

The final advertisement and all participating artists will be listed on the project website after publication.

NO ONE IS MAKING MONEY ON THIS PROJECT
..WELL, EXCEPT ARTFORUM

The $1.50 artists are charged goes 100% to getting their image in Artforum.

The price of a full-page ad is $4,200. PayPal takes $0.30 on each transaction, plus a small percentage of the sale price and, depending on location, a currency conversion fee. Therefore, the total price of the
image is $1.50.

Present Group

Call for Submissions

Who we are:
The Present Group is a quarterly art subscription service. Every year TPG subscribers receive four limited edition works from four different contemporary artists. Each work is accompanied by information to help them gain insight into the piece, its creator, and recurring themes in the contemporary art world.
What are we looking for?
Proposals for projects that are reproducible in intent or that results in multiple art pieces. Each piece can be a limited edition, an artist multiple, or either a part of or a document of a larger work. Our current edition numbers are under 100. We choose based on the piece's Visual, Conceptual, and/or Experiential interest.
Appreciation for Selected Artists:
+ $500 (This is an honorarium; this does not go toward the making of the pieces)
+ 4 of the produced work for your own collection or to sell on your own.
+ All the contextual information we create for your piece, including artist info, critiques, and video will remain free on-line as long as TPG exists.
Our Agreement:
We are here to be at your service, we will try to assist you as much as possible and will look for your approval every step of the way. We do request timely correspondence so that we will be able to maintain your vision and stick to our quarterly schedule.
The project will be made exclusively through The Present Group. We understand that similar themes and images may be used throughout your other work, however you agree not to create the exact project in the same form again.
If chosen, you will be asked for an artist statement, and for some or all of the following: to be interviewed, to provide information to someone writing a piece about you or your work, to be videotaped during a studio tour or lecture, interview, etc.
Do you have to make them all yourself?
No. You don't have to be able to physically make them all yourself. We'll work with you to have them made, or help you make them. It is not a requirement that you have worked on this scale before.
How does it work?
We can't give you a definite answer here, as every piece and every person will be different. But in general, we work with you to get the project made. We put up the money for the work. We will find vendors, organize labor, figure out methods of making these things. If your project requires your hand to print/produce every one of them, we will try to work out some compensation for your time.
Submission Guidelines:
Your proposal should include:
+ Contact Information: Name, Address, Phone Number, E-mail, Website
+ Project Proposal:
1. What you want to do.
2. How this work will relate to/expand on current themes in your work
3. Anything (sketches, photos of similar works) to help explain your idea.
+ Links to Artist Resume, Statement, Work Samples
Deadline:
The Present Group has a rolling submissions policy and reviews proposals four times a year.
Via Email: submit [at] thepresentgroup.com

Include all of your contact information in the body of your email.
Your proposal can be included in the body, attached or linked. We much prefer links to web sites or files. If you must use attachments, limit it to three. We will not open more. We prefer .PDFs or .JPGs. We will not accept attached video.

Via Snail Mail:

Project

Delicate Situations is a year-long group exhibition from 15th January 2007 until 15th January 2008 bringing together work that will be placed in any space anywhere. The one common factor is that the works must be left in a place (for as long as they last).

Delicate Situations will aim to show the implications of the struggle with circumstance and the contrasting strategies and choices that face us. It will do this by creating a condition for the exhibition of the art work by which its fragility or resistance to circumstance is radically exposed. Exposing not only the vulnerability of a finished art object but also the often vulnerable circumstances of the process and production of art work. The nature of the way in which the work in Delicate Situations is shown will allow a chance to dwell on the nature of display and the varying ways in which an artist reacts to showing their work. By providing no specific venue for the work it provides an extreme situation to dwell on the value of publicity and privacy. This leads us to think about the ways in which artists develop strategies for being seen and not seen and, finally, the ways of merging or keeping separated the making of the work and the making of the work public.

Media_and_applicant_eligibility: International, Open to All

submission_requirements: You are invited to participate in Delicate Situations. You may submit more than one work in the form of documentation(for example photograph, text, link to movie or sound file) over the period of the year if the work evolves with exposure to the environment in which it is placed. Work can be submitted at any time during the year.

place_of_event: Online and International, Various Locations

contact_informations: Please submit documentation (for example photograph, text, link to movie or sound file) of your work to schneiderinlondon [at] yahoo.co.uk

About the Workspace Program

The Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning (JCAL) is dedicated to encouraging public participation in the arts and contributing to the cultural enrichment of Queens and the greater metropolitan area through its visual, performing and literary arts, arts education and artist programs.

JCAL's Workspace Program is tailored to support an artist in his/her creation and presentation of new works. Through the program, JCAL provides an emerging artist with a private, 750-square-foot, non-living studio space and access to JCAL's office and studio facilities (computer, ceramics and painting) for a period of 12 months. The artist is awarded a stipend of up to $7,000 and offered to exhibit his/her work in JCAL's gallery at the conclusion of residency.

The secure, private studio is located on the third floor of JCAL's newly renovated building. It features three large windows with northern light exposure, track lighting, storage space, wall spaces for large-scale paintings and blackout shades for photography or projection. Lavatory facilities and a telephone are in close proximity.

The resident artist has access to the studio from 9 am - 8 pm, Monday - Thursday, and from 9 am - 6 pm Friday and Saturday. Operation hours are subject to change. The resident artist is encouraged to engage in conversations with JCAL visitors and art professionals through open studios, slide talks, workshops and gallery talks. The residency starts July 1 every year and concludes June 30 of the following year.
