Greetings from The Stolen Chair Theatre Company.  This is Emily Otto, the associate artistic director and resident dramaturg.   I'm writing because we're planning dark night programming during the run of our next production in April and May, and we're looking for collaborators.

Our upcoming production, the third installment in our CineTheatre Tetralogy (4 years, 4 productions, 4 classic film styles adapted for the stage) is a 1930s Errol Flynn-style swashbuckler as Sophocles might have written it, set against the backdrop of the American Revolution

We're performing at the Milagro Theater at the CSV Cultural Center on the Lower East Side, and we have six nights in which we are planning to present dark night programming.

Here are the details of what we're looking for:
We'd like to present a program of entertainment in which each piece is related (even loosely) to one of the three major settings/genres of our production: swashbuckling/pirates, the Greeks, and the American Revolution

We're looking for short pieces, ranging in length from 10-30 minutes, with minimal set pieces.  We'd prefer to have casts and directors intact.  The dates we have available are all Tuesdays and Wednesdays:  April 29 & 30, May 6 & 7, and May 13 & 14, and each piece would be performed as few as two or as many as six times.

While we're looking for work that can fall within these three genres, we're really very open to how the genres are interpreted and what performance mediums are used to convey them.  Since the Milagro is a vast space by downtown standards, it offers the opportunity to think outside the black box, so to speak.

There will be no upfront venue fees for participants, and we'll have an equitable box office split.  We will, of course, help publicize the event through all of our available channels, so this offers you the opportunity to stretch beyond your usual audience.

Please forward this to any other artists you think might be interested in working on this project.  Submissions can be emailed to me at emily [at] stolenchair.org, and are due by March 1.  Please feel free to email me with any questions.  I look forward to hearing from you!

Best,
Emily
