chashama burst onto the art world in 1996 by dazzling pedestrians with its enticing, provocative window performances. Now, in the year of the Snake, chashama steps into the arena of film with the first annual chashama Film Festival. Artists will be able to showcase their creativity in New York City, without even having to be in NYC. The chashama Film Festival aims to reach artists that make work around the globe, and bring those deserving films to NYC audiences.

Guidelines
Any film that has been finished or revised in the past year is eligible. Films may include features, shorts, or animations; films can be narrative or experimental.
Format: DVD, Mini-DV, VHS.

If you are confident about your film, please go to www.chafilmfest.com, and click the submissions link at the top of the page to fill in the online form. You may then submit your film through the mail to the address below along with the appropriate application fee. Cash or checks accepted, or pay through PayPal. We regret that we cannot return materials.

Applications accepted beginning April 4, 2008. Deadline: May 9, 2008.

After the finalists are selected, their films will be posted to a link on the chafilmfest.com webpage. The winner will be voted on by a panel of industry professionals and the audience on the last day of the public screenings. The winner will receive $217, and the director will be interviewed by a special guest (to be announced!)

The top ten films will be screened for the public May 30-June 1, 2008 at chashama's flagship space, 217 East 42nd Street.
